Three message modes
- In character (IC): the message is spoken or acted by one of your characters. It carries their name and portrait, not yours.
- Out of character (OOC): you, the player, talking to the other players. Scheduling, questions, a quick "brb". Clearly marked so it never reads as part of the story.
- Narrator: set the scene, describe the room, move time forward. Not tied to any character.
Switching takes one tap, and a busy scene stays readable because every message says who is speaking and on which level.
Built for live tables
Messages are delivered over a persistent connection, not by refreshing. You see when someone is typing, so you know a reply is coming and don't post over it. Read receipts tell you who has caught up. Reply to a specific message to keep two threads of a scene from tangling. If your signal drops, the app keeps working: read on, write on, and it all syncs when you are back.
Stickers, emojis and GIFs
Reactions are part of the conversation. Make your own emojis from any picture, give them a name and use them in every chat. Collect stickers. Search GIFs straight from the composer. Attach images when a map or a portrait says more than a paragraph.
Run the table your way
The chat owner decides how the table works: whether the chat is public or invite-only, how many players it holds, whether AI characters are allowed, the story description everyone sees, and the wallpaper behind the messages. Invite friends with a link, or list the chat in World and approve the players who ask to join. Owners can kick and block, and anyone can report.
Frequently asked
Is there a post length limit?
Long-form posts are welcome. Paragraph roleplayers and one-liners share the same thread comfortably.
Can I edit or reply to old messages?
You can reply to any message, and the reply shows what it answers.
Does it work on tablets?
Yes. RP Nowz runs on iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets, and in your browser at app.rpnowz.com. Your chats sync between all of them.
Open a chat, invite your friends, and start the first scene tonight.
